Haley makes her triumphant return! And other such updates...

Hi fellow thespians!
Haley here signing in for the first time in awhile, it hasn't been the same without you lovely folks reading the Players Guild blog. I promise, there will be more updates from now on :)

Lots of fantastic events have happened/are happening within the Guild. To start off...

The reviews are in! Leading Ladies, the first show performed in the Players Guild's 2012/2013 season was a hit with audiences! The Chilliwack Times and the Chilliwack Progress both covered our first show, and each had positive reviews regarding our lovely Leading Ladies. The cast was small, but the laughs were large! I had a chance to catch our terrific actors in their prime at the fullest house during the only Matinee. And boy, what a treat it was. I literally fell out of my seat at one point from laughing so hard, the tears were falling - and there was no shame in that!

This weekend, Saturday November 10th and Sunday November 11th the Guild is hosting a Directing Workshop. There is still space available if you'd like to learn more about Directing, so send workshops@playersguild.ca an email now!

Fiddler finishes and Awakenings auditions!

Hello fellow thespians!

It has been a whirlwind two weeks for the cast and crew of Fiddler on the Roof. They just wrapped up on the weekend and already there has been a review written about this wonderful gem of a play.

Mike Archer of Chilliwack Today writes about his experience, along with praises for Graham Archer and Linda McRae as Teyve and Golde, respectively. He writes "I was more than pleasantly surprised at last Saturday evening’s performance at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre … I was deeply moved by a near flawless performance"

Wow! What a review! Thank you Mike Archer of Chilliwack Today! For the article link, click here!

Theatre geek moment: within the article is a quote taken from my own mouth, credited to the Chilliwack Players Guild (which is clearly true, since I write for you lovely people). “A story of faith, family and the traditions of a certain milkman, who must learn about a new world.” Have you ever had been quoted before? Well, it sure does feel pretty neat! Cool!

And now for a quick reminder!

Fiddler on the Roof is coming very soon!

Greetings fellow thespians!

Haley here (finally!) to begin updating you with all things Chilliwack Players Guild related. I just recently joined the Players Guild last year - and my first show being the Lighting Designer/Operator in Witness for the Prosecution in October. Next, I jumped into the role of Assistant Stage Manager for 'Tis the Season in November!

And as for Fiddler on the Roof, we are deep into rehearsals filled with songs, dance numbers, and the spirit of Anatevka!

On Sunday we had full stagger through of the show. For those who are unfamiliar with the term, we basically ran through the scenes in order, but if something needed to be fixed, or redone, we stopped. This can make for a long night. But, very very productive.

So get your tickets early, they're available through the Centre Box Office by phone 604.391.SHOW, in person at 9201 Corbould Street, and online at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre's website.

Until next time friends. Cheers!

Changeroo!

We'll be switching bloggers soon here at the CPG. Currnetly our web designer Emily is taking care of this blog, but the demands of the website are proving to be a lot to handle! PHEW!
In the next week, Haley will be taking over. Many thanks to her, and we look forward to all the wonderful things she'll do with the blog.

Back!

Hey everyone!

Well, we got sooo busy with our 2011/2012 Season, that it's half way over!
A few changes, we are not doing A Stitch in Time anymore, and we've moved Awakenings to the summer spot.

Other than that, things have been going along swimmingly! We're into rehearsals for FIDDLER ON THE ROOF right now (with a cast of aprox 72)!

I for one cannot wait until we move into the CCC to fill the theatre with the voices in that chorus! It's sounding AMAZING!
